Showcasing Nature’s Resilience Within City Limits
In cities, nature is often controlled – manicured parks, carefully planted trees, and trimmed shrubs lining sidewalks. Yet, nature refuses to be tamed. It sneaks through cracks in concrete, climbs abandoned walls, and reclaims forgotten spaces. Daniel Popper’s Thrive captures this quiet resilience, celebrating nature’s ability to flourish against all odds.

Located beneath a high-rise at Society Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, Thrive reworks the spirit of Ven a la Luz installation from Tulum, Mexico. This time, the message is urban: even amidst steel, glass, and concrete, nature persists.
The sculpture, forged from bare concrete, feels industrial on the outside. But as it opens, it reveals an interior teeming with vibrant plant life – a symbol of renewal and growth. In a post-pandemic world facing climate change, Thrive reminds us that life, like nature, adapts and persists.
