Honoring the Past and Celebrating the Future: Juneteenth at the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park
On Juneteenth, we honoured the remarkable strength and resilience of the human spirit. This year, the day became even more significant with the official opening of the Equal Justice Initiative’s Freedom Monument Sculpture Park in Montgomery, Alabama.

I was deeply honoured that two of my pieces, Hallow and Heartwood, found their forever homes at this powerful park. And it was a privilege to be in the company of esteemed artists such as Simone Leigh, Kehinde Wiley, and Wangechi Mutu, among others.

I extended my heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at EJI for their tireless dedication to communities across the United States. Their invitation to be part of such a meaningful space was both humbling and inspiring.
